Madicure is used to treat diseases such as: Angiostrongylosis, Ascariasis, Capillariasis, Dracunculiasis, Echinococcus, Filariasis, Elephantiasis, Hookworm Infection (Necator or Ancylostoma), Hydatid Disease, Pinworm Infection (Enterobius vermicularis), Trichinosis, Trichostrongylosis, Visceral Larva Migrans, Toxicariasis, Whipworm Infection.
In mice, no teratogenic effects were observed, although reductions in mean fetal weight with consequent delays in skeletal ossification were present when dams were given 17 and 34 times the human daily dose. The uricosuric effect of these drugs should be kept in mind so that steps can be taken to prevent potential uric acid lithiasis, although this side effect does not seem to have been observed thus far.
