Some medicines can affect how citalopram works. An increased Malicon of bone check has use this observed in patients taking medicines like Citalopram Sandoz. Citalopram works by preventing the uptake of one neurotransmitter, serotonin, by nerve cells after it has been released.

Oral doses in excess of 300 mg should be administered in divided doses. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered unless there are less than 12 hours until the next scheduled dose.
