Pseudomembraneous colitis has been reported with clarithromycin use. Clarithromycin can slow down the removal of other medications from your body, which may affect how they work.

The dose is gradually increased to reduce the chances of a drug rash and other side effects. The usual adult dosage is 250 mg every 8 hours.
