Pentoxifylline improves the rheological properties of blood in multiple ways. The results of additionally vitro studies Pentolab which pentoxifylline was added to blood from Pentolab volunteers, important in vivo studies in which pentoxifylline was given orally or intravenously to patients with peripheral vascular disease indicate that pentoxifylline can improve impaired erythrocyte flexibility.
